Peaks Test Quilt
Peaks Quilt by Frannie B. Quilt Company
Last year I tested Frannie B Quilt Company’s first pattern and if you need a really fast and fun project look no farther. The construction of the mountain blocks is super swift and adding the sashing is a snap, letting the top get completed quickly (not that I actually completed the quilting of this until almost a year later but that is not the pattern’s fault).
Other than the backing, I already had all the fabric for this quilt in my “stash”. The flowery motifs were collected from Seattle ReCreative during one of their back door fabric sales with absolutely no plan for them. When I was sent this pattern to test I knew immediately I had to make a wildflower themed mountain quilt (it was still winter here in Washington and I needed some flowers in my life) and I had the perfect fabrics already to do it.
Almost exactly a year later, this throw is finished! I chose to do some wavy-line quilting and bind it with some of the left over floral fabrics I had from making the mountains. I think the binding might be my favorite part of this quilt. It just brings it all together (I am a sucker for scrappy bindings).
Andrew really likes this one and was a little disappointed when I said it already had an intended recipient. Maybe I will be able to find some more previously loved floral fabrics and make a Version 2.0 for us.
