Fresh Snow

It took me a while to get out of bed this morning. Again. DB mentioned that he thought he saw a flurry. I didn’t believe him and continued to slowly pack my stuff away. DB left a few minutes earlier than me and in those few minutes I also saw a couple white flakes falling to the ground. I just assumed they were falling ashes from DB pouring water on the fire. I was incorrect. It was snowing. In the middle of May. In southern California. This was not on the menu when I signed up for this.

Trail magic fruit! A little sunshine on a really cloudy day. We found out that there was a storm that was snowing above 6000 feet and raining below that. I was not having that. I jokingly said that one of the hills between us and the storm should stop the clouds. And it essentially did.

We somehow managed to walk away from the storm and though it was still a little darker than usual we ended the day without any clouds directly over our heads.

After 22ish miles, DB and I found a decent spot out of the wind a bit and set up our tents. When I was looking for a spot to use the restroom I saw a tarp that billowed in the wind in a very familiar way. It was AH. We caught up! Yay.
