Timberline
FP and I got up early to make it to Timberline Lodge for lunch time (we made it). The buffet was definitely worth the money. They even labeled everything that was vegan! They actually used that label a little too liberally... They had their potato salad labeled as such and after I took a few bites I realized there were eggs all over the place (they didn't change the label when I told them the mistake... sigh). That was a little annoying but boy was the fruit good. DW and Fre made it a little later.
After I had digested a little bit, we all hiked about 6 miles passed the resort to camp. FP took us the wrong way for a few yards until I pointed out that there was no trail... At that point we had to turn around and walk back up to the trail on very sandy terrain.
At one of the streams before the place we planned to camp there were these weird mutant biting flies that literally swarmed whenever I stopped moving. Either that is a testament to how bad I smell or that the mosquitoes told them how much I like being attacked. Speaking of… there haven't been that many of those bugers as of late.
There were so many people there. It was pretty loud and not ideal but it is what it is.
PS. from the resort, Mt. Hood is really really ugly, but when you walk to the side without the dirty glacier... GORGEOUS
