Mice
FP and I met the next morning at the mount rainier highway crossing where we snacked and talked to Hula for a bit and where I decided I was going to make it to the cabin that was 26-ish miles away from where we were (we had already hiked 6 that morning already) FP was pretty reluctant but ended getting on board after a bit of persuasion.
Another forest fire started and for a good portion of today I was able to watch the helicopters pick up water from a nearby lake over and over again. A couple of women stopped to talk to me and say how proud they were of me and it made me feel really nice considering I was having a mentally rough day. I was so close to the end of this adventure and I had no idea what I was going to do afterwards. After so many days and months of just focusing on getting to Canada, once that goal actually seemed like it would become a reality I realized that my "real life" had been put on hold for almost 6 months and though I had been developing on trail, off trail my development and experiences were nill compared to my other school peers that started internships and jobs after graduating. I was freaking out.
I made it to the cabin right before sunset and found Hula and FP sitting outside of it. Apparently they thought the inside looked like it had been pulled straight out of a horror film. It wasn't actually that bad... until we were all in our sleeping bags for the night... Thats when the mice came out. One ended up in Hula's pack before we hung them up. It was really hard getting to sleep since it sounded like the mice were stomping around on top of some potato chip bag.
