A Hop & a Skip
As I am returning to the trail alone and there was no way on Earth I am going to go back into the Sierras alone with all of the swollen stream crossing. So I am skipping to Truckee (about 200 miles from where I got off in Tuolumne/Yosemite) and will return after I make it to Canada to finish up that section but I will be going South so I finish in Yosemite and not at a grimy rest-stop.
So. Today I got on a plane and flew to Reno and ubered (as you know, my favorite form of transportation... not really but I use it a lot) to the trail. Once I was there I filled my water bottles and gave myself the goal of making it to a little hut that was about 3 miles away. I know. Super ambitious but it was already kind of late and it was my first day back so I told myself to start slow. Well. there was the thing I was trying to avoid when I skipped. Snow. BUT I didn't freak out and just pushed to the hut where I found a bunch of other hikers already ready for bed. Once I found myself a spot I quickly got into my sleeping bag and because I was still clean I didn't bother changing into my sleep clothes.
Being around so many people made it difficult to sleep and I was excited to start getting more miles under my feet again I was pretty fidgety.
