Paran to Barak
Almost immediately this morning we walked into a canyon (but not before we passed all the loud people who woke up early this morning and decided to wake everyone else up with them). The canyon was like hiking through an obstacle course. We had to go up ladders and rungs drilled into the rock in order to get to the plateau at the top. We walked up there for a few hours until we got to the other side of the canyon where we climbed back down into it. That was fun. We had ladders and rungs again but there was also a rope and a small pool of water we had to walk through (little wriggly worms and everything) to get to the bottom.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful in comparison. We walked through a valley on a road until we got to the night camp... We got there before 2. We were the first ones there so we got to pick out our spots and set up our tents to hide from the sun and the flies that have a tendency to swarm during the heat of the day (at night they usually go away).
A and P tried to hitch to the town/settlement of Paran to get groceries because A really wanted food while I stayed behind and manned the fort.
After some time I went and talked to the one other American we met on trail earlier that day until the other two got back. A and P apparently couldn't get a hitch and walked 5 out of the 8 km to town but then decided to turn around because they didn't know if the grocery would be open when they got there. So. With one disappointed A we made a quick dinner and then went to bed to dream of the grocery store we will get to tomorrow.
