Windmill Farms
I woke up this morning with a bit of dew on my sleeping bag. I was not happy about that. Luckily it was sunny and so I could dry out my bag during lunch.
I saw coyote pups! Bee’s Knees was stopped on the trail and was looking at something and I am so glad. They were the cutest. Rolling around and tumbling on the ground. Adorable.
The majority of the day we walked through wind farms and I was in heaven.
After 5 miles we started a 7 mile uphill climb. The first half was not bad at all. The second half was accompanied with a pretty hefty incline. After the 7 miles there was a little area at the top with chairs and an umbrella and ORANGES and water. Probably one of the best trail magics I’ve experienced so far. P was already there waiting when DB and I arrived and AH caught up a little later. There were five other hikers there also resting. We stayed for a few hours, talking, eating, drinking water and I tried to read my book.
When we got to our ending destination for the night, close to the road that goes into Tehachapi, DB and I found a horse skeleton. We later found out that there are apparently wild horses that run around in an area close by and we think that might be the explanation for that sad sight.
